This beautiful purple flowering plant is called an “Echium”, and is commonly known as the ‘pride of Madeira’, as it is native to the island of Madeira, but also found in North Africa, Central Asia and mainland Europe, which is where I spotted it. It is much visited by bees and butterflies for its nectar, and I was fortunate to have captured in my lens, a butterfly perched on it, which at the end made it a perfect click.
