Art for Cause
I have a very close connection with a Non-Government Organization (NGO) called the Manav Jeevan Vikas Samiti (MJVS), led by the Gandhian Activist Shri Rajagopal P. V. MJVS has been dedicating its efforts in the upliftment of the tribal areas of India, by guiding the villages and it’s people towards the path of self-sustenance. This is done by imparting vocational training in various fields to the tribal families, where along with their primary activity of farming, they can earn enough livelihood to make their lives and the lives of their children better.
In majority of the villages, extensive training is imparted towards cloth weaving, and that too the Gandhian way. Mostly the women in the villages, hand weave this beautiful, soft and absolute pure fabric which, is then sent to the cities of India through the volunteers of the organisation, where it is sold. This income helps the villages to become self-sustainable and for the current and future generations to afford good education, better health facilities, and the basic necessities of life. Part of the proceeds are also reinvested to further spread the vocation amongst more villages, with the goal of more villages becoming self-sustainable.
I pledge to donate part of the revenue from sales towards this cause and supporting MJVS in its future endeavors.
